Lake Brantley junior Luke Heyman does not recall ever hitting three home runs in a single game at any level during his playing career.
Heyman, a University of Florida commit, did just that Friday night while driving in seven runs and helping the Patriots (25-3) win 11-0 at home in five innings vs. Oviedo (18-10) during an FHSAA Class 7A regional quarterfinal.

The Lions out-hustled the Huskies in this cross-town contest in Oviedo, FL, that pit the Oviedo Lions against the Hagerty Huskies for this Flashback Football Friday. The Huskies’ offense was able to get double digits on the board but fell short of the goal and lost two fumbles to the tenacious defense of the Lions. For the Oviedo Lions, it was a sizzling sophomore show with QB Luke Rucker rushing for 2 touchdowns and connecting with Sebastian Vargas and Alex Saunders for 2 more touchdowns, for 173 total yards while D.

Two weeks ago, after early National Signing Day when quarterback Timmy McClain of Class 8A state champ Seminole signed with USF, many wondered who would be the new Seminoles’ quarterback. The answer may have enrolled Monday at the Sanford school. Record-breaking Oviedo sophomore Luke Rucker has transferred to Seminole High.
